Dairying is the most ancient occupation established in the rural setting of Bangladesh. It appears many of traditional milk collectors and sellers, known as Goala’s, used to visit households with their milk containers every morning to sell fresh milk and households are used to buy from them.
Now a day’s time has been changed and with the change of time, countries population is rapid increasing. And the demand for milk and milk products is also increasing because of the increased population, change of food habit and the spread of education & nutrition awareness.
Over the last two to three decades, things have been changed a lot. Several industrial processors have emerged - collecting, processing and selling of milk and milk products in packaged form with the promise of hygiene and quality. And Goala’s have started losing their prominence.
But still the national milk productions are not sufficient for the increasing demand. National milk production can only meet 13% (approx.) of the current milk consumption. There is huge supply-demand gap offers business prospects.
